Adolfo Rodriguez
Director of Product Marketing Media Technologies
Omneon Networks, CA
"Our application is to compensate for the delay introduced into the video by an MPEG-2 encoding process. In order to get multiple audio channels in an ingest (more than an encoder offers), we have to use a parallel ingest path for audio. In this situation, the video goes through an encoder introducing processing delay (i.e. 10-19 frames) and the audio has no delay at all, so we have to compensate for it."
Rodriguez says of the SoundPals Audio Delay unit, "The ADLY-4 was very easy to install and set up, and it worked out of the box. We were fortunate we found the ADLY-4, because we were using a much more expensive solution that was an overkill for our needs."
John J. Dowdell, III
Vice President, Senior Colorist
Tape House Editorial, NY
"Here at Tape House, we're dealing with the highest possible
definition, the absolute best way that
film can be turned into video. I do not want the audio to be a
second cousin to it. I want the
absolute best possible audio reproduction, and with our D/ESAM
mixer, I get it."
Penny Johnson
Senior Editor
Casablanca Post, LA
"When you're a small facility you can't say, 'I have some
equipment that's down; let's move you into
another edit bay.' I don't have that luxury; I only have one edit
bay. Therefore, anything I purchase
has to be reliable. I have never, in five years, had one moment's
worth of down time because of my
audio board.
The producers and the directors who come in and look at your equipment
judge you by it. And
when they see that I have a Graham-Patten mixer, I'm sure they
regard me as a quality conscious
facility."
Chris Hengeveld
Director of Post Production Editorial Services
National Video Center, NY
"We've been using the D/ESAM mixers since they first came out
in our very first digital edit suites.
And out of all of the boxes in the room, I think it's the only one
that I've never had to call the shop
on."
Jerry Haggart
Director of Technical Operations
Nice Shoes, NY
"On any board, no matter how big it is, you inevitably run
out of faders. With the D/ESAM, you can
assign multiple tracks to a single fader. That way you use fewer
faders, and you don't wind up with
a board that you need roller skates to get around on either. It's
convenient, it's compact."
Jay Melzer
Editor
Four Media Company, Burbank
"I think what I like best about the D/ESAM is the flexibility
and speed in which you can change
assignments and set-ups during the session. If you have to make
a quick change or if you want to
preset something, you have the ability to do so, right at your fingertips."
