Graham-Patten Systems
to spotlight
D/ESAM® 8000 Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixer
and SoundPals HDDM-8 De-Embedder at NAB2005
"Multichannel capabilities make the 8000
ideal for broadcast and post"
- Tess Pender, GPS Marketing Manager.
Las Vegas Convention Center, NV: Graham-Patten
Systems, a division of The ISIS Group, will spotlight two new breakthrough
products at the NAB 2005 Convention Exposition, which opens here today
and runs through April 21. At the high-end, the D/ESAM 8000® Digital
Edit Suite Audio Mixer features 16 channel faders, eight buses and
full surround sound capabilities, while the SoundPals HDDM-8
High-Definition Eight-Channel De-Embedder, the latest addition to
the firm's innovative range of audio solutions, provides eight channels
of analog audio output in a compact package. The ISIS Group acquired
Graham-Patten Systems in October 2004 from Klotz Digital America.
A member of the landmark D/ESAM®
Series Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixers, the new D/ESAM® 8000 employs
the industry-proven Klotz VADIS mixing engine and routing system.
"User features, including multichannel surround capabilities,
make the 8000 an ideal choice for broadcast and post facilities making
the transition to DVD, DTV and other digital delivery formats,"
offers Tess Pender, GPS Marketing Manager. The new D/ESAM® 8000
utilizes the same Emmy® Award-winning innovation that made the
D/ESAM® 820, 400 and 230 industry-accepted standards. Standard
features on all D/ESAM mixers include send outputs, monitor sub-mixer,
fader range, user configuration registers and D/MEM write protection.
Stand-out features of the new D/ESAM®
8000 Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixer include:
-
Familiar D/ESAM look
and feel. Like all other mixers in the D/ESAM family, the 8000 uses
a video switcher's architecture. Audio signals are mixed and edited
using familiar program and preset buses. If users have prior experience
of a D/ESAM Series mixer, they can easily operate a D/ESAM 8000.
-
"Big mixer"
input structure. The multichannel surround-sound environment requires
a mixer with plenty of inputs. The D/ESAM 8000 with VADIS can accept
hundreds of inputs - analog, digital, or SDI embedded - mixing up
to 96 channels at one time.
-
Compact yet powerful
control surface. The D/ESAM 8000's mixing power is not limited by
the compact size of its control surface. Multichannel sources may
be assigned to a single fader, as stereo pairs or on a channel-per-fader
basis. Either way, the VADIS mix engine features enough power to
easily handle complex multichannel mixes.
-
Comprehensive monitoring
facilities. The D/ESAM 8000 features eight monitor outputs. In a
room set up for 5.1-channel surround sound, six of these would be
used for the main monitor speakers - left, center right, left-surround,
right-surround and LFE/subwoofer - leaving two additional outputs
for pre-listen, auxiliary monitoring or for a separate set of stereo
near-field monitors. A built-in monitor matrix provides users with
the flexibility needed to completely configure monitoring to suit
each application.
-
Built-in delay, EQ
and optional dynamics. The D/ESAM 8000 includes built-in delay and
full parametric equalization to speed productions and enhance the
sound of a finished project. Powerful dynamics, including compressors
and limiters, are optional, and can be added on a fader-by-fader
basis.
-
The best editor interface
in the business. Graham-Patten developed the industry standard ESAM
II control protocol in 1986, and the advanced D/ESAM IV protocol
in 1995. D/ESAM IV is a standard feature of the D/ESAM 8000, providing
enhanced control over all mixer functions including machine assignments,
register transfers and monitoring functions.
-
D/MEM register storage
and recall. Operators can save and recall system configurations
and panel setups quickly and easily with the mixer's D/MEM system.
Information is stored in non-volatile memory and may be written
and read from the system's floppy disk drive. D/MEM register data
may also be transferred to and from the edit controller.
