GRAHAM-PATTEN SYSTEMS REPORT CONTINUING SALES
SUCCESS FOR D/ESAM(R) SERIES DIGITAL EDIT SUITE
AUDIO MIXERS ACROSS BROADCAST AND POST MARKETS

"Multichannel capabilities make the 8000 ideal for broadcast and post" - Tess Pender, GPS Marketing Manager.

Las Vegas Convention Center, NV: During the NAB 2005 Convention Exposition, which opens here today and runs through April 21, Graham-Patten Systems will be providing details of recent sales and pending deliveries to a wide cross section of customers throughout the broadcast and post-production sectors. The ISIS Group acquired Graham-Patten Systems in October 2004 from Klotz Digital America. ISIS and Graham-Patten distributor relationships are being fully integrated, along with the companies' physical location, accounting and manufacturing systems.

"During the past several months we have witnessed a renaissance of interest in the D/ESAM(r) Series of innovative Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixer," confides company president Leonard Dole. "In Japan we have sold systems to a number of prominent organizations, while throughout the United States business could not be better. And we have a strong sales interest for new systems from BSkyB, which operates one of Europe's most popular digital television platforms, and is a leading provider of sports, movies, entertainment and news programming."

According to Sheen Hosoda, president of Totsu International, Graham-Patten's long- time Japanese representative, recent customers for D/ESAM Series mixers have included:

  • Imagica, one of Japan's largest post-production houses, which recently added a D/ESAM 8000 Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixer; Totsu International served as systems integrator. Imagica is also one of the country's biggest motion-picture film laboratories, offering 35/16 and 65/70 processing and printing for major feature films, commercials and TV programs. Its high-end video post facility offers more than 40 digital video editing bays, telecine area and audio mixing studios. In addition, Imagica produces digital and optical visual effects for feature films and TV shows.
  • Asahi Broadcast Company (ABC), Osaka, the country's second largest station in the ANN News Network, which recently installed a D/ESAM 8000 Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixer. The outlet is a well-know technical opinion leader in the region; the 26-station network also operates TV Asahi in Tokyo. Again, Totsu served as ABC's systems integrator.
  • Techno Max, a subsidiary of TV Tokyo, which also installed a D/ESAM 8000 Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixer earlier this year. The facility provides a range of operations for TV Tokyo, including in-studio operations and sports events, as well as post-production. The organization offers two HD-capable linear editing rooms, two SD-capable linear editing rooms, AVID DS and audio mixing studios. D/ESAM Series digital mixers are used within the various edit suites.
  • Azabu Plaza, a mid-sized post production house located in central Tokyo, which has also added a pair of D/ESAM 8000 Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixers. The operation features 14 editing suites and six audio studios, the former equipped with two D/ESAM 820s, four D/ESAM 400s, two D/ESAM 230s and a new pair of 8000 systems.
  • Nihon News Network (NNN), a network that includes 30 TV stations centered on NTV, Tokyo, and YTV, Osaka, recently added two D/ESAM 230 Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixers, selected for its powerful performance in a compact design that integrates a control console and electronics chassis into a single table-top unit.

Within the Greater Los Angeles area, recent or upcoming customers for D/ESAM(r) 8000 Series mixers include:

  • Bexel Broadcast Services, Burbank, which is offering the system for high-profile live-production/broadcast rental applications, usually within a mobile edit truck; recent sessions reportedly include the recent NFL Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, FL. Bexel was established in 1981 to provide video equipment and ancillary support gear to a fast-growing production community. The company reports that it has been involved "in every major area of broadcast television and corporate production, and leads the industry in the field of cutting edge-video/audio rentals, engineering expertise, technical advice and custom production solutions." The firm handles major TV production events around the world, ranging from ABC Monday Night Football to Academy Awards; from The US Open to World Cup Soccer; from Super Bowl to Summer and Winter Olympics.
  • CBS Television, as part of an HDTV Hybrid Edit Suite.
  • CCI Digital, Burbank, a high-end post facility where, according to Jim Compton, VP of Engineering, the digital mixer forms part of a new HD linear on-line edit suite used exclusively for Disney TV animation series work. CCI Digital is a subsidiary of DVS Intelestream.
  • NT Video, Hollywood, a leader in optical soundtrack recording and telecine, for direct telecine digital audio output to Avid Media Composer digital data drives - thereby avoiding a videotape transfer step to provide sharper, higher quality images - as well as for traditional videotape transfers to DigiBeta, Beta SP and DVCam digital formats. Using the facility's D/ESAM systems, four channels of analog/digital production audio can be digitized simultaneously.
  • FotoKem Film & Video, Burbank, a state-of-the-art post house and film laboratory that provides color and B&W laboratory services for the world's leading filmmakers. In addition to 16/35/70 mm motion-picture processing and printing, FotoKem offers advanced film-to-tape transfers and other production resources. The new D/ESAM 8000 Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixer is the second system to be installed at the facility within fully-equipped HD Edit Suites.

All D/ESAM(r) Series mixers listed here were supplied by Marketec, Graham-Patten's marketing and sales representative for Southern California.

"These organizations are current Graham-Patten Systems users and rely on the D/ESAM's dependability," offers Marketec sales associate Merlyn Morgan. "Also, there are no other viable ESAM-capable eight-bus audio mixers available on the market with the robust construction needed for professional broadcast and post installations."

A member of the landmark D/ESAM Series Digital Audio Mixers, the D/ESAM 8000 employs the industry-proven Klotz VADIS mixing engine and routing system.

"User features, including multichannel surround capabilities, make the D/ESAM 8000 an ideal choice for broadcast and post facilities making the transition to DVD, DTV and other digital delivery formats," offers Tess Pender, GPS Marketing Manager. The new D/ESAM 8000 utilizes the same Emmy(r) Award-winning innovation that made the D/ESAM 820, 400 and 230 industry-accepted standards. Standard features on all D/ESAM(r) Series Digital Edit Suite Audio Mixers include send outputs, monitor sub-mixer, fader range, user configuration registers and D/MEM write protection.
